Biosketch

Dr. Nathan Leonhardt is an assistant professor in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University, where he teaches a class on family resiliency. He received his BS in Family Life and MS in Marriage, Family, and Human Development from Brigham Young University, where he was a Hinckley Scholar and Wheatley Scholar. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto in Social Psychology, where he was a Vanier Scholar.

He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He has published over 40 academic article and book chapters on long-term flourishing relationships, focused mainly on topics such as marriage, sexuality, religion, and virtues. His work has been featured in popular news outlets such as Daily Mail, CNN, Psychology Today, and Men’s Health.

Life is full of inevitable, unfair suffering. In the face of the inevitable, it is crucial to develop a perspective of resilience, going through hard things and coming out better on the other side. In this presentation, we will focus on flourishing family relationships throughout the life course, including the transition to parenthood, the response to COVID-19, virtues in family life, and having an eternal perspective.
